About Prime Climate Care

Where climate science, education and community action meet.

Prime Climate Care is an independent, non-profit climate organisation registered in Tanzania and based in Dar es Salaam. We study weather and climate, share what we learn, build tools that turn data into decisions, and work alongside communities to act on it.

01Our story

Understanding the climate is where action begins.

Climate knowledge matters most when it reaches the people who need it.

In Tanzania, a changing climate is not a distant forecast. It shows up in rains that arrive late or all at once, in longer dry spells and in rising heat, and it is felt first by farmers, pupils and families.

Prime Climate Care exists to close the gap between climate knowledge and everyday decisions. We bring research, weather modelling, education and digital tools together, and we take them to the people who need them: in classrooms, in institutions and in communities.

We work in partnership. Schools, universities, institutions and organisations that share our goals are part of how we learn and how we act.

02Vision and mission

Vision

A global hub for climate action through research, education and sustainable development.

Mission

To enable societies to understand climate impacts and adopt sustainable practices.

03Core values

The principles behind our work

Five values guide how we research, teach and work with others.
  1. Integrity

We report what the evidence shows, credit our sources and are open about what we do not yet know.

  2. Data-driven action

Our decisions start from measurements, models and research rather than assumptions.

  3. Resilience

We help communities prepare for climate shocks and recover from them stronger.

  4. Scientific excellence

We hold our research, models and teaching to careful, rigorous standards.

  5. Partnership

Climate action is shared work: we build with schools, institutions and communities, not around them.

04How we work

From evidence to action

Our work follows one line. Each step feeds the next, and what we learn in communities flows back into new research.
  1. Research

We study weather patterns and climate impacts and build models that forecast them.

  2. Education

We turn findings into programmes and workshops for schools, institutions and the public.

  3. Services

We provide climate data, tools, IT solutions and consultancy for informed decisions.

  4. Community

We work with communities on local projects and awareness campaigns.

Back to research. What communities teach us shapes the next research question.

05Where we work

Rooted in Tanzania, connected to the world

We are based in Dar es Salaam, and our focus is Tanzania as a whole. Our footprints are recorded at four levels: with institutions, nationally, across the region and in global climate efforts.
